Over the last year, I've been racking my brain, trying to figure out what I could do to add to the discourse that is happening in this country right now and do it in a positive way. A dear friend suggested I combine my love of children and current events and she sparked something in me. I thought, If we as adults can't wrap our minds around what's happening, imagine how confusing it must be for children? The result is this blog, WeAreSeeds.net, focused on "raising happy, healthy, socially conscious, intellectual, and spiritually strong children in the 'Post-Truth' Resistance Era". The name was inspired by my upcoming album, Seeds, and a proverb that states: “They tried to cut us down, they didn’t know we were seeds.” I will feature articles, videos, quotes, and cartoons aimed at how to equip our children for the very adult social issues they face these days. I hope that you'll visit, find things that are helpful, and even contribute to the content on the page. May many conversations be started and hearts and minds changed because of content of this blog...

Today I am proud and excited to present to you all the video for my song "Summerville" from my EP The Back Porch Sessions. This video is special because it was filmed in Summerville, GA, birthplace of my mother, Poopoo, and my great grandmother, during my show there on June 25. Several members of my family make cameos in this beautiful piece. A huge thank you to the city of Summerville, my family, and to Caleb Childers at Malachi Films for capturing the magic of this place and its people. If you like it, share it. Check it out by clicking the video above...

I was asked to give my take on the "controversy" over Beyonce's song "Daddy Lessons" from her new album Lemonade being played on Country radio stations nationwide. You can check out the Pop Dust article HERE and the Flavorwire piece HERE.
It's hard to believe that a year ago this week The Back Porch Sessions was released...thanks to all of you!!! It's been an incredible ride since then. I got to work with some of the best in the business and life. I found my voice and place in this industry as an executive producer, artist, singer, and a woman. I overcame the fear of releasing independently. The project has been featured in such publications as Rolling Stone, People Magazine, and Rolling Out Magazine. I was interviewed by Tavis Smiley and even Perez Hilton sang its praises!!! Not too shabby for Team Little Engine that Could aka God is my Agent!!!
I can't say thank you enough for making this all possible for me. Your contributions and faith sustained me then and keep me going today. I will be shooting a video for "Summerville" in the next couple weeks and I am excited to say that I am in the process of creating two new projects, a follow up to The Back Porch Sessions called Revival and a children's lullaby project called Seeds. I'll keep you posted on their progress and eventual release.
Thank you all again, so very much!!! Happy Anniversary!!!
